Yeah, I'm not doing this.

It looks like I have an albino Imperial Star artichoke, it seems to have stopped since the true leaves started to sprout. Maybe I should buy that big lottery ticket. It looks like I'm off and running with this years first garden freak.

My education began in the Greater Chicago Catholic school system.  So the title to this post make me giggle.  When I was a little girl and it was raining outside, the nuns would tell us to "Put on your rubbers!" before we went out into the rain. image source and article As I work in a mostly arid climate, although the past few springs have been very wet, I've never seen this happen to a body.  In other parts of the country that are more humid and cool, saponification happens. Yes, a body can turn to "soap". Click the link for an interesting article. If you are into this sort of thing.  It is also known as "grave wax" or most professionally adipocere. Starting over...

... well, sort of. Last Halloween was the final year of Haunt Stress, at least as far as I was concerned. My biggest stress was the elaborate light show with tons of homemade spotlights run from my computer using freeware that was buggy and often shut down unexpectedly. That and the hundreds of feet of wire that ran throughout my entire yard. Connections would fail and troubleshooting was extremely tedious and exhausting. We ran the light show for 9 years and it was amazing when it worked. I spent hours sequencing lights to music and it was so satisfying to watch. But the show always glitched worse and worse throughout the night each year. That seemingly miles of wires everywhere made it impossible to walk around in without damaging something. We limped it along last Halloween, but I was so stressed and exhausted afterwards that I'd end up feeling pretty bummed out by the end of it all.
