Gone Feral In Idaho

It's been in the 100's lately but today we didn't reach 90 degrees. I figured I'd get out the camera and inspect the front gardens. Kyle set me up with drip irrigation for my hanging pots and large urns. This is my first year at successfully growing Amaranth.   Our new maple tree is doing well. The old one was diseased and we had to cut it down.  Bees love the lavender.  Liatris  Black Vernon tomato, I got a free packet with the rest of my order from Johnny's this year.  Mexico midget- these are the first to ripen. We are going to have a ton of tomatoes by the end of the month. Hardy hibiscus-it's covered in buds.

Last year I couldn't bring myself to cut some spring flowers for indoors. This past weekend we had a dinner party, so I went for it. Now I don't even have to look out the window to see some spring color. With a grey house, the color really stands out.

Indigo Rose blue tomato. Wow, these are strangely wonderful.  Yellow Pear, our first year of these as well.  One of our two huge urn plantings. Inside is a self watering container setup. These have a few more surprises yet to grow.  Our first echinacea, or cone flower. I love these.

The aliums are coming up.

I took advantage of the sunshine today and made a trip to Edwards Greenhouse in Boise. Their greenhouses were perfectly warm and the flowers were deliciously fragrant. I shot about 150 photos and had a ball. They welcome anybody to come and simply hang out there; with all the little nooks and corners there are thousands of possibilities for getting some nice shots. I got to play around with my 35mm DX prime lens. I left the others in the bag and learned a lot more about what my camera can do. It's amazing what you can do with a little good light. These are no award winners, but I am very happy with the results. There is nothing special about this shot other than it captures some of the character of the signage at Edwards. They also use old doors, windows, bathtubs, and many other re purposed goods as decor. I was thrilled to see the detail in all these handheld shots. Black Cherry and Super Steak Brandywine and Super Steak Super Sweet Cherry 100 Jalapenos, zucchini, and 3 Black Krims We started our fall plants, Two varieties of broccoli, collard greens, arugula, and shallots. Next weekend the garlic gets planted.  The cucumbers are doing really well this year. Something ate our 3 melons completely before they ripened.  the white powder is premethrin dust. Happy Autumn!
