July Mayhem Ends in Disaster

Image
The day started great. Emily and I did our own private garden tours today and saw each other's gardens for the first time since we met last year. These are the photos of Emily and Jason's feudal garden near my house. It is such a pretty and inviting space. I could have spent hours there. If only the day could have ended up here. It was so pretty. We did more garden sneaks including Emily's and I am embarrassed to say I was too shy to photograph and then got so caught up in the tour that I forgot. Andy the dog was also a show stealer. He is so cute. Emily has so many different tomatoes, herbs, eggplants, all tucked in every nook of her yard. When you walk into the yard, at first, you'd never know there was a huge vegetable production at first glance. I had a great afternoon. Who knew what disaster would strike later in the night... Moving on to evening, Sadie had her first date in ages. I think I was more nervous than she was. Tonight Kyle and I took Sadie over to...

This is Pretty Cool

Red Sky at Night

This was the amazing summer sunset light show from the southeast from our house. Maybe the grass fires are putting up enough particulate for the spectacular show.

The Best Post Ever

I haven't seen this doc yet, its not on Netflix. I will start a search immediately after I post. I HAVE to see it. This fits exactly in with one of mine and my friend's new projects.  Watch the video. Wow.

I'm handing out invites to the first 479 folks that respond to this with their gmail account. Nice thing is that I can put you into either garden, haunt, or weirdo categories! Oh, and we don't have to be face to face real friends, there is even an acquaintance option which I consider perfect for my Blogger buddies- so we don't have to be up in each other's Bizness.

Harvest Monday

Image
Yes, the big day has arrived. This is the first tomato of 2011. I hope many more will grace my kitchen windowsill.  I won't sit long, but I need to show the rest of the tiny harvest. We keep getting more yellow wonder alpine strawberries and the ground cherries are ripening. This was the fate of the first black krim of the year.  Stack them any way you want and add just a couple drops of the truffle oil. Summer has finally arrived. We also hauled in about 25 lbs of peas. Some will be shelled and others will be cooked in a pan with oil and salt to sear them and eat like edamame. I found that the shells soften up nicely, I just pull off the string and poop the whole thing in my mouth. Very tasty. On the Halloween front, I scored some 1x2's from my friend Sue. They'll be great cemetery fence materials.

Happy Fourth!

I got this baby for half off. I figured it was a dud. Apparently, it worked. The grand finale. Burnt out aftermath. Thank you China for the fireworks. Why does the 4th have to be so violent? I must admit, having four "adults" with boxes of snaps was a real treat. The whole show: 4 boxes of snaps, four small fountains, and "the laptop" Best $20 I've spent this summer. Also being able to bring Sadie over to J and S's house for a night of socializing made my day.
