Amazing

I never put stuff from Facebook on here, but I never saw this video until today and it hit me so hard. Warning, make sure you can watch this on your own time. Even me, the person that works with death, cried like a baby. It is a wonderful, inspirational video and I hope to have this sort of comfort when my last days arrive. http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1205976343915&oid=64307619298&comments Simply amazing, I hope I can comfort someone as well as this dog has at least once.

Scary Movies

Link:  The Haunting 1963   Check it out. I just recently found this list of Martin Scorsese's 11 scariest horror films of all time. I know the man hasn't produced a lot of note lately, but I love his list. Most are black and white, low tech-compared to this day. My favorite scary movies are low on special effects and high in tension and the best scare of all, (where is Vincent  Price when I need him to narrate?) the fear of the unknown . Ugh... Things are improving though. I wasn't allowed to see the slasher movies until I was older, but my mum introduced my sister and me to some of the early greats such as The Haunting and The Uninvited. Perhaps that is the reason why...

Harvest Monday

Image
Wow, it is mid-August and this is all I brought in this week. What a late year. I think next weekend will begin the real tomato harvest. Pictured above are black cherry, black krim, super steak hybrid, sweet cherry 100 hybrid, dragon's tongue beans, rosa bianca eggplant, ping tung eggplant, and triple crown blackberries.  I think the rosa bianca was a bit overdue. So far, all we've done is grill the eggplants as slices with olive oil, salt and pepper. The ping tung's are perfect for that. They have the best texture. I'm not sure how the rosa's will be used best. The black krims are awesome, and I love the black cherries. This is the first year that I am really eating tomatoes. I made a nice tomato salad with all the ones in the photo, cut them up in different ways and dressed them with fresh basil, oregano, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and a splash of balsamic. I also salted the tomatoes with a few pinches of sea salt in a colander over a bowl to draw excess moistu...
