Harvest Monday

Image
Wow, it is mid-August and this is all I brought in this week. What a late year. I think next weekend will begin the real tomato harvest. Pictured above are black cherry, black krim, super steak hybrid, sweet cherry 100 hybrid, dragon's tongue beans, rosa bianca eggplant, ping tung eggplant, and triple crown blackberries.  I think the rosa bianca was a bit overdue. So far, all we've done is grill the eggplants as slices with olive oil, salt and pepper. The ping tung's are perfect for that. They have the best texture. I'm not sure how the rosa's will be used best. The black krims are awesome, and I love the black cherries. This is the first year that I am really eating tomatoes. I made a nice tomato salad with all the ones in the photo, cut them up in different ways and dressed them with fresh basil, oregano, olive oil, red wine vinegar, and a splash of balsamic. I also salted the tomatoes with a few pinches of sea salt in a colander over a bowl to draw excess moistu...

July Mayhem Ends in Disaster

Image
The day started great. Emily and I did our own private garden tours today and saw each other's gardens for the first time since we met last year. These are the photos of Emily and Jason's feudal garden near my house. It is such a pretty and inviting space. I could have spent hours there. If only the day could have ended up here. It was so pretty. We did more garden sneaks including Emily's and I am embarrassed to say I was too shy to photograph and then got so caught up in the tour that I forgot. Andy the dog was also a show stealer. He is so cute. Emily has so many different tomatoes, herbs, eggplants, all tucked in every nook of her yard. When you walk into the yard, at first, you'd never know there was a huge vegetable production at first glance. I had a great afternoon. Who knew what disaster would strike later in the night... Moving on to evening, Sadie had her first date in ages. I think I was more nervous than she was. Tonight Kyle and I took Sadie over to...

Big Dog

Great Story, this looks just like Sadie, just 60 lbs bigger.   Unlike this Big Dog  which is utterly frightening.

Exhausted

What a day, my Dane mix is black, I just learned I need a good pic of her crashed out.  This is where I will be within seconds.  I saw some of the craziest stuff at work today combined- with the new schedule, ugh!  I need a good nights rest and some quality time in the garage working on props.  Is it just Danes that hang their heads off the bed?   I'll post a proper haunt post once my weekend starts Thurs. AM.  -Happy Haunting!
